Windows XP includes a new feature that will automatically optimize the the disks on boot if required. This setting controls whether this feature is enabled.

Open your registry and find the key below.

Create a new String value, or modify the existing value called 'Enable' using the settings below.

Exit your registry, you may need to restart or log out of Windows for the change to take effect.


(Default)	REG_SZ	(value not set)
Enable	REG_SZ	"Y"


	HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Dfrg\BootOptimizeFunction

Settings:

System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Dfrg\BootOptimizeFunction]
Name: Enable
Type: REG_SZ (String Value)
Value: (Y = enabled, N = disabled)
